ABOUT US
Since its founding in 2005, January Media has produced films across a wide range of genres. From its first film, the theatrical documentary The Bodybuilder and I (Best Canadian Documentary, Hot Docs 2007) to the animated feature Charlotte starring Keira Knightley (Canada’s Top Ten 2021, Nominated for Best Indie Feature, Annie Awards), January prides itself on working with the best of Canadian and international talent and financing.
As coproductions, January Media produced three live-action features in 2024 - Out Standing, directed by Mélanie Charbonneau and Meadowlarks, directed by Tasha Hubbard, were released in 2025, and Maya & Samar, directed by Anita Doron, was released in 2026.
JULIA ROSENBERG
Producer
Julia Rosenberg is a longtime film producer who began her career as a film executive, working on acclaimed features like Being Julia and Fugitive Pieces. She went on to launch January Films, producing both scripted and documentary projects, including The Bodybuilder and I (Best Canadian Documentary, Hot Docs) and Real Time, starring Randy Quaid and Jay Baruchel.
In 2021, the animated feature Charlotte, based on the life of artist Charlotte Salomon and voiced by Keira Knightley, premiered at TIFF and was released internationally the following year. Now rebranded as January Media, her company continues to champion bold, character-driven storytelling, with three new feature films set for release in 2025.

ADA WOLTERS
Manager, Operations & Development
Ada Wolters has over a decade of experience in business and operations management. She studied theatre and film at Queen’s University, and has written, directed, or produced many plays and short films.
She was in Sheila Heti and Margaux Williamson’s writing group for a number of years, now she runs it. Her forthcoming novel is I Call Myself a Killer.
